Habib University organized its Second Annual Fundraising Gala named “Creating Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow” at the Marriott Marquis, Houston on November 20, 2021. The event aimed to renew the support of the Pakistani diaspora in Houston for Habib University, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic's aftermath. The First Annual Gala was held in March 2019, but it was not possible to host the event in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions worldwide.
The event showcased the unwavering commitment of the Pakistani diaspora to Habib University's cause and their confidence in the potential of the nation's youth. In his keynote address, Anwar Maqsood, a renowned humorist and satirist, emphasized the significance of providing high-quality education to Pakistani youth like that offered by Habib University for the country's prosperity.
During his presentation, Mr. Wasif A. Rizvi explained Habib University's impact and its mission to provide access to world-class education to talented students. He acknowledged the Houston community's generous support towards higher education and emphasized the importance of building committed communities of supporters to create opportunities for Pakistan's promising youth.
Mr. Usman Dhanani, Vice President of The Dhanani Group and host of the evening, highlighted that higher education in Pakistan could make history at this crucial juncture for the country. Mr. Shoukat Dhanani, CEO of The Dhanani Group and a member of the Board of Governors of Habib University, acknowledged the importance of advocating for a cause that could shape higher education in Pakistan.
The overwhelming support from the gala's guests delighted the organizers, and Dr. Asim Shah expressed his gratitude, stating that the support from the Houston community was overwhelming. He reiterated his commitment to supporting higher education as the only way to change society and Pakistan's future.
