Vaqar Haider is a Managing Director and Group Head at a leading Japanese bank, where he has led the firm’s U.S. Corporate Banking, Leveraged Finance, Sponsor Finance, Lender Finance, and Municipal & Infrastructure Finance, Credit Portfolio Management businesses since 2020.
Before this role, Vaqar spent more than 25 years at one of the top three U.S. banks, leading a broad range of regional and global businesses across Asia Pacific, Japan, EMEA, North America, and Latin America. His leadership experience has spanned both business growth and governance, including service as Chair of the Banking Governance Committee – Americas, and as a member of several regional leadership and operating committees.
Vaqar holds a Bachelor of Science and an MBA. Beyond his professional career, he is deeply engaged in community and cultural initiatives, with a particular interest in South Asian heritage, classical music, poetry, and Sufi traditions. He serves on the board of the Habib University Foundation U.S. and chairs its Development Committee, helping advance global partnerships and philanthropic initiatives in higher education.
He lives in Manhattan with his wife and two sons.
